Slaton SingingLast Friday, September 20, a group of peers got together to share their musical appreciation and offer gratitude for their lives today. From tambourines to inspirational songs, the peers also held signs of affirmation and demonstrated all their positivity.

Peers noted that these activities make them feel good about themselves and helps them feel better when they are having a bad day. An important life skill for individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues is part of self-management: learning to control one’s moods. Each of us has some ways we use to cheer ourselves up. It may be reading a book, going for a long walk, chatting with a friend, or playing a tambourine -- why not?

In these photos -- and more to come -- we tried to capture the spirit of the day with some of our most active peers. Today we feature Laurie Slaton, in white, and Betty Murray, holding sign.
