It was a night filled with love, joy, and lots of holiday spirit when locals gathered to share holiday fun and the spirit of giving. On Saturday December 7th, from 6-9 p.m., a group of Perry Wellness Center peers and staff attended the fourth annual Greatest Gift Christmas event in Americus. Hosted by Kimberly Baker and Kristi Nolt, the evening drew over 1,000 visitors. Generous holiday visitors brought toy donations to help brighten the Christmases of families in the Southeast who were recently affected by Hurricane Helena.
A variety of activities and displays were available for visitors to enjoy, including barrel train rides, a snow machine, games, face painting, Christmas trail lights, prizes and seasonal treats such as cookies, cotton candy, popcorn, and hot cocoa. Special guests in costume depicted such figures as Jesus Christ, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and even the Grinch.
Peers attending the event included: Mike Harper, Kendarious Durham, Shaquille Coleman, Johnny Wiggins, Rhonda Hubbard, the Grinch, Sherry Robinson, Shanora Robinson, Awan Smith. By all accounts, peers enjoyed the experience. Staff accompanying the group included Mickey Llano and Judy Carson. They enjoyed sharing the experience.
Pictured here are peer Sherry Robinson and the Grinch. Over the next few days, we’ll share additional photos here and on our Facebook page.
