At Perry Wellness Center, we are proud of the accomplishments of all our peers. When someone takes a first step toward mental health recovery, the first step may be walking through our door. Acknowledgement of problems and making plans to improve one’s daily life – huge! Many individuals have passed through for brief visits, while others have made PWC a part of their weekday life for years.
Today we salute Nakia Rhone, who has taken on many roles over time: peer, student, volunteer, and employee. Today, she serves as our head sales cashier at Rudy’s Happy Patch Market. She has obtained a college degree as an automotive technician. Not only is she a vault of knowledge is many areas, she is quite talented in needlework.
In the photo at right, Nakia shows off a beautiful example of the hand-crocheted sweaters she makes. She says is takes about three weeks to make each sweater. At our Spring Art Show, she will be showcasing several examples of her handwork.
PWC finance manager Sheila Bodrey praises Nakia, saying, “We love Nakia here at Perry Wellness Center and Rudy’s Happy Patch! She is an amazing asset to our center!”
Friend and colleague to many, Nakia Rhone has earned her place in the PWC Hall of Fame.
