Koi pond 1Recently, Perry Wellness Center's financial/ general manager Sheila Bodrey shared a new project she is working on – the renovation of an existing pond as a second koi pool. Why a second one? If you are asking yourself that question, then you probably have not had one before. Koi ponds are one of the most relaxing garden features ever!

PWC seeks to provide a soothing atmosphere for individuals who are focusing on recovery from mental health or substance abuse problems. The plash and darting of tropical fish in a garden are sources of delight for peers, staff, and visitors.

The new koi pool is smaller than the current one. Mrs. Sheila says that the renovation is β€œan ongoing process.” Right now, they are in the process of cleaning and weeding out the overgrown areas on the selected site. After landscaping and restoration are complete, other features will be added, such as benches for those who want to sit and reflect. As you can see in the photos, the project is already shaping up. It is a true reflecting pool that captures the mirrored images of orange koi (they have already started moving in!), leaves as they change color, and the blue sky.

The location of this pond is near the green archway in the middle of the market area, with ample foot traffic. We hope that folks will stop by to see this work in process. Thanks, Mrs. Sheila!
