Recently, Perry Wellness Center reported on plans for peers to create decorated, reusable clay pots with positive statements “planted” in them for Mental Health Week. Art instructor and CPS Phyllis Smith guided interested peers in completing last week’s project: “Grow Happiness Flower Pots.”
Each clay pot was painted, decorated, and filled with weighted materials and a positive sign. Miss Phyllis explained, “With each of these projects, I want peers to choose words of life that should remind us each day of good things that we can do. The colorful pots with provide a base for future projects. I hope the completed pots will be taken home for peer reminders or as gifts for friends.”
The peer works are currently on display in Perry Wellness Center’s first classroom. The display will be open in the older main classroom building during regular business hours.
