While Perry Wellness Center teaches wellness and recovery lessons to peer members each day, staff and peers always welcome the opportunity to provide community education as well.
This month, we’ve had the opportunity to provide a bit of a training lab for a group of graduating nursing students from Georgia Southwestern State University. As part of a 10-week community clinical rotation, students have been visiting our campus each week to see firsthand what local healthcare and service organizations are doing.
We’ve welcomed the nursing students to our campus and included them in a variety of group activities, educational opportunities, and, of course, spring volleyball tournaments! Our emphasis on physical activity as part of a recovery program is something that these future health professionals can appreciate, and they join in with enthusiasm.
In the photo above, nursing interns Rebecca Wingard, Quentin Glass, and TeHania Williams get ready to join in a game of team volleyball.
Thanks to Georgia Southwestern State for allowing us to share in this worthwhile training experience.
