Lions ClubThe support of organizations in our community never ceases to amaze us at Perry Wellness Center.  And the generosity of our own peers is a constant reminder of the grace of recovery.  Recently we had the opportunity to see both of these blessings in action.

The Americus Lions Club recently invited Perry Wellness Center to make a presentation at its regular luncheon meeting.  Staff members Phyllis Bleckley and Jeff Williams attended, along with peers Connie Rutherford and Roderick Arnett.  After lunch and fellowship, Connie and Roderick spoke candidly to club members about their own recovery stories and described the programs at the center.

After their presentation, Lions Club President Willie Cooper presented Perry Wellness Center with a check for $250.  As always, this gift from the community was appreciated.  Then Connie and Roderick turned the tables, so to speak, when they presented the Americus Lions Club with personal donations of $10 each.  Having learned of the work that the local club does in vision preservation, they wanted to show their support for these efforts.

This luncheon giving made the day for many who were witness to this moment of mutual recognition and giving. Our thanks to the Americus Lions Club for its ongoing support of Perry Wellness Center.  Thanks also to our peers, who open their hearts daily to others.
