skeleton crewAs we complete our second year of constructing scarecrow “skeletons” for use in Americus’ annual scarecrow contest, we thought it was time to introduce you to our skeleton crew (sorry!).

Led by peer Otis Perry, the group has constructed dozens of frames for scarecrows this year so far.  Last year, a total of 78 scarecrow frames were constructed by Perry Wellness Center.

Creative director Jeff Williams is pleased with the production schedule and output of the team: “It is our priority at Perry Wellness Center to teach skills and help peers learn about life improvement.” He sees a task like the scarecrow frame production as one that fulfills this mission.  He is also impressed with the leadership Otis has demonstrated in overseeing construction of what he calls “garden guards.”

“I think that we have found our scarecrow production chief,” Jeff proclaimed.

In the photo below, peers Awan Smith, Irvin Cook, Rhonda Hubbard, Charles Dixon, Mike Harper, Kyle Gailey, Otis Lewis, and Javin Baker show their constructions on campus in Hope Park.
