Amanda PerryLike any red-blooded human services organization, Perry Wellness Center had been dreading its state audit for weeks. The routine audit required hundreds of man-hours of preparation, in order to ensure that paperwork was appropriately in place and services finely tuned.

“Our audit with the State of Georgia is critical for our continued success,” explains Amanda Perry, who serves as Director of Internal Audits. “We do what we can to check every detail as we submit information to the annual audit.”

The day of reckoning finally arrived. Amanda notes, “This recent audit took three days and four auditors.” The good news: “They were very happy with what they found!”

At the end of the three days, members of the audit team met with staff to review the findings of the Georgia Behavioral Health Quality Review. Allow us to blow our own horn at this point. Our scores were consistently above average or superior; e.g.:

  • Focus Outcomes -- 99% (state average -- 85%)
  • Compliance with Service Guidelines -- 98% (state average -- 90%)
  • Assessment and Planning – 92% (state average – 79%)
  • Billing Validation – 99.5% (state average – 81%)
  • Overall score – 98% (state average – 84%)

We’re pleased that our scores reflect our commitment to quality services. Paperwork itself isn’t important, but it represents the work we do every day, and we’re happy to get an A+ on that!

In an upcoming post, we’ll share our favorite part of the audit: actual comments from peers, staff and others about Perry Wellness Center. We loved their candor, humor, and positive attitudes. We think you will, too!
